Dong Energy Walney (UK) Ltd - - Redevelopment of Dockside
The project involved the re-development of an 18 acre site for the loading and unloading of Offshore Turbine Modulars for the Walney off shore windfarm at Barrow in Furness.
The work scope was designed and developed by The Neil Martin Group Ltd, which included the location and plotting of the original underground services, the demolition of existing bases and structures, the design and calculations for ground bearing for the loading of the largest crawler cranes in the UK. The support works included a 2500 cubic meter reinforced concrete slab to protect the existing harbour wall tie bars and 90,000 cubic meters of hardcore capping. We also designed and then constructed a new lighting system for the site. A new boundary security fence was constructed.
The site preparation was carried out using our latest CAT dozer fitted with GPS/Lazer levelling system, giving an accurate levelling over the site of +/-10mm, this ensured preparation of the formation was correct and the correct amount of stone was used, both minimising waste and materials required.
Works were completed ahead of programme and within budget, demolition materials were recycled and re-used on site under the hardcore cap to minimise waste and transport and lower the environmental impact.
Barrow On Shore Wind Farm (BoWind) - Construction of an operations and maintenance workshop/office
B Wind required a new operations and maintenance workshop/offices , The Neil Martin Group Ltd assisted with the design and planning and continued to construct the premises in Barrow in Furness. The project included The new workshop/offices,fencing, landscaping, car parks, roads and services. The project was completed ahead of the original programme, and within the original budget.
We were the first known company to reach the highest pressure test result on our newly constructed building which resulted in a higher reduced heat/emission loss for the client.
The project also involved working closely with ecologists to protect and develop new habitat for the local wildlife.
